A Teddy Bear Suite With Hundreds Of Bears Is Coming Back To Seattle This Week
We're talking a very 'Beary' Christmas!
Treats laced with cinnamon, warm cocoa mornings and mistletoe kisses. While Christmas reminds us of all things warm and fuzzy, there's one particular spot that's warmer (and fuzzier) than most — the Teddy Bear Suite in Seattle.
True to its name, a plush suite at the Fairmont Olympic is cozied with teddy bears of all sizes. The room is decked by pro designer Kevin Bradford, so you can expect high attention to detail.
A spokeswoman for the hotel told Narcity that they don't have an exact count of how many bears there — there are simply that many of them. But she estimates that there's at least 200 of them, big and small. The biggest bear will be the best cuddle of your life standing at over 7 feet tall!
The cuddle-induced holiday tradition has entertained children, and the child in everyone for over 25 years and sees over 20,000 people flock its doors annually.
Over the years, they've collected several bears, adding new teddies to their coveted collection each year.
And here's some sweet news: It's free for everyone! You simply get on the elevator and head to the second floor of one of Seattle's oldest hotels — usually the corner suite — to marvel at this warm tradition.
Although it's free, donations are encouraged and it's for a good cause — 100 percent of the proceeds are donated to Seattle Children's Hospital. The hotel told Narcity that $20,000 was collected in donations in 2018 alone.
Continuing last year's theme and tradition, this year, the suite will be transformed into a magical winter wonderland.
Last year, it was bedazzled in silver and white tinsel and the bears looked merry under a birch sleigh bed. You can stay as long as you like, cuddle the bears, and make some memories for the camera too.
While you're at the hotel, you can also swing by to see a quirky display of themed-trees that you can buy, or gawk at some of them for inspo by Seattle Festival of Trees.
There's going to be a sweeping gingerbread house that's life-sized, and made out of 4,000 real gingerbread bricks if you're into that sort of thing!
If you're lucky, you can also catch Christmas carolers in Victorian garb spreading some Christmas jolly cheer in the lobby.
Either way, the annual winter cuddle is here, and it's about to get magical.
