If you were getting geared up for the Toronto Yule Ball that was set to happen this month, we've got some bad news for you- it's not happening. Or at least, not happening the day it was supposed to. Leaving a lot of wizards and muggles frustrated and disappointed.
That's right, two months after the initial news hit that a Toronto version of the Yule Ball seen in Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire would be happening, local Harry Potters fans are now heartbroken after finding out it's been rescheduled.
Now, before you get your pitchforks, the company behind the event actually has a good reason, considering they found themselves in some legal trouble with none other than the creators of the Harry Potter movies, Warner Bros. Inc. Meaning they really didn't have a choice when it came to making some changes to their event.
Thankfully the event will still be happening, just on a different day with Warner Bros' blessing, meaning that no copyrighted words or phrases such as "Yule Ball" can be used for it. So you'll be enjoying a magical feast, a wand class, wizard market, costume contest, photo booth and DJ at the newly named "Wizard's Ball."
The company behind the event, Muggles and Magic, posted an update to their website for customers noting that "Warner Bros. did not contact us on their own terms but that an anonymous contact was made flagging our event. We accept full responsibility for not investigating the legal ramifications of hosting the event and hope you will give us a chance to make it up to you."
If you aren't able to go to the newly scheduled date, which is January 19th, Muggles and Magic is offering full refunds upon request. Though you may want to think twice about rescheduling when you learn that Viktor Krum will still be showing up for the newly scheduled date, while the company is also trying to have Afshan Azad attend as well.
