WestJet Says It Will Do This If You're Affected By The Possible Strike

You won't be completely screwed.

Yesterday it was announced that WestJet pilots had voted overwhelmingly in favour of going on strike

This could happen in the next couple of weeks, leaving many travellers with tickets booked unsure what will happen to their plans.

Well WestJet says it has a plan for anyone who may be impacted for the possible strike.

The airline says that if the pilots walk off the job people who have tickets booked will be able to get a refund for their tickets.

Of the 95 per cent of people who voted on whether or not to peruse strike action 91 percent of them said they were in favour of it.

Pilots legally could walk off the job as soon as May 19, but now say that they won’t do it until at least the 22nd of this month.

In a statement yesterday Rob McFadyen of WestJet's Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) ) master executive council said, “It’s clear WestJet pilots are ready to stand up for the fair contract we deserve — one that puts us in line with our peers across the industry."

The union and the airline are hard at work trying to hammer out a deal that will avert a possible strike.

The airline says that it has seen a slowdown in the number of tickets being sold because of the possible strike by the pilots but until they actually walk off the job everything is still “business as usual.”
