It all started on Reddit when someone posted this clip and people began asking, does it sound like the person is saying "Yanny" or "Laurel"? Well, we have the answer.
The debate is over, the clip is actually saying Laurel.
According to TMZ, the guy who originally posted the clip, Redditor RolandCamry said that he recorded the robotic pronunciation of the word "Laurel" from vocabulary.com. He says that he recorded the audio from his speakers, which caused the weird distortion in the clip.
He says that he and a friend were surfing vocabulary.com when they came across the word, "Laurel". He said he heard "Laurel" but his friend heard "Yanny" and that's how the whole viral debate started.
