Last year, Clifton Hill announced that  the track would be opening this spring 2018, as soon as the winter weather breaks. A source at Clifton Hill has directly informed me that everything is still on schedule to launch within that time frame and that they are currently gearing up for its grand opening:

“Our scheduled opening date is still slated for spring this year and we are super excited,” the Clifton Hill rep told me. He also hinted to check back around early March when preparations will likely be finalized.

The track is was shut down for the winter but construction is fully complete and tests have already been conducted. Clifton Hill previously released footage of the first-ever test drive on the track and it looks pretty awesome.

‘It’s like go karts on steroids’

The Niagara Speedway is the first attraction of its kind in Canada and the largest in North America.

The track is made up of a four-storey corkscrew and an epic downhill which elevate the go-karting experience. Drivers will get to speed through hairpin turns and steep ramps as they make their way to the checkered flag at the finish line.

“Niagara Speedway is a marriage of traditional go-karts with the added fun and excitement of an elevated coaster-style track,” reads the official website’s description.

HOCO Ltd., the privately-held tourism company which oversaw the project’s construction, chose Clifton Hill, Niagara Falls’ entertainment strip, as the location for the track. It is part of a revitalization of local tourism that includes a line-up of other new attractions, including a zombie exhibit, 4D theatre and multiple renovations.

Stay tuned for more on this developing story.
