Good donut, good cause! On Sunday, Tim Hortons announced that they would be introducing a brand new snack to their menu, and it’s going to be raising money for charity. The Nova Scotia Strong donut is available from April 26 and April 29, and all proceeds will go towards the Canadian Red Cross Stronger Together Nova Scotia Fund.
Just one week after the devastating attack in Nova Scotia, Tim Hortons has come through with a delicious initiative to help raise money for charity.
On Sunday, the Canadian company revealed their Nova Scotia Strong donut, and they’ve committed to donating 100% of the profits to the Canadian Red Cross Stronger Together Nova Scotia Fund.
The coffee giant shared a promotional video on Sunday, that involved NHL local stars Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon.
The clip aims to raise awareness of the Tim Hortons Nova Scotia campaign, and explained that the money raised would go to supporting those affected by last Sunday’s horrific rampage.
Over that weekend, 23 Canadians lost their lives.
In the emotional clip, Sidney Crosby explains, “As proud Nova Scotians, we are incredibly saddened by the tragedy that took place in our community.”
He concludes the video by adding, “Let’s show Nova Scotians how all Canadians stand with them.”

The taste and design of the Nova Scotia Strong donut will vary slightly, and will depend on the stocks and supplies in each individual Tim Hortons restaurant.
In a statement, the Canadian company explained, "Given the urgent push to start fundraising, the sprinkled donut design will vary by restaurant depending on what supplies owners have available."
In Nova Scotia, locals will be able to pick up the new donut from Sunday, April 26.
Across the rest of Canada, it will become available on April 29. It’s a limited time treat, and will be sold at participating locations while supplies last.
In an announcement on Sunday, Tim Hortons Chief Marketing Officer, Hope Bagozzi, explained “This tragedy has been all the more devastating given how Canadians were already struggling with the unprecedented nature of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.”
“From all of us at Tim Hortons, our hearts go out to all those who are hurting right now – we are thinking of you,” the statement concluded.
The Nova Scotia Strong donut will reportedly retail for $1.59 and will be available until May 5 at participating restaurants.
