Winter in this province tends to get frigid and frankly sort of miserable sometimes. But there are plenty of redeeming winter activities that totally make up for the not-so-nice weather. Ice skating, for example, is a super fun way to combat those pesky winter blues and stay active too. So, if you’re someone who loves lacing up and hitting the ice, then we’ve found the most magical outdoor skating trail for you to try. Complete with lights and music, this Ontario skating trail might just be the perfect winter activity.
Nina’s Way is a 1.3 km skating path located in Sudbury’s Kivi Park.
At over four hours from Toronto and getting on for six hours from Ottawa, it’s safe to say that it’s quite the drive.
But honestly, it’s worth that winter day trip.
The park features an icy path that winds through a charming forest full of beautiful birch trees. And, with music playing throughout, you can whistle while you skate through all the pretty lights.
You’ll also find a few adorable little cabins on-site where you can sit and put on your skating gear in comfort.
After you make your way through the forest, you can cozy up in a Muskoka chair by the fire to stay nice and warm.
Time to take full advantage of the winter weather.
Keep in mind, this winding outdoor trail is not completely flat, and it might be harder to navigate if you’re used to indoor arena skating.
This is why helmets are highly recommended.
In addition to the heated cabins and firepit, there are also washroom facilities on sight.
Skate rentals, on the other hand, are not available, so you will need to bring your own.
To make the most of your trip and to soak in all of Sudbury’s winter wonderland beauty, you can stay in the park and explore the range of other activities.
Other fun to be had includes hiking, snowshoeing, fat biking, and more.
So, whether you’re looking for something romantic to do with your S/O or you just need to get away for a while with your besties, this beautiful musical skating path is the place to do it.
Light it up!
