When we're not ordering a Tims double-double or apologizing for something, Canadians can often be found enjoying their national favourite treat - the butter tart. From butter tart bakeries to tours, this heavenly dessert has the whole country addicted. It turns out there's an entire festival dedicated to finding the very best Canadian butter tart, and we can't say we're surprised. Ontario's Great Canadian ButterTart Festival is happening this September.

The event will take place at the fairgrounds in Paris, Ontario, and it's going to be oozing with fun. Featuring over 150,000 butter tarts and some truly unique flavours, you won't have to worry about picking raisins out of yours. This patriotic festival is taking place on Sept. 21, so get your sweet tooth ready.

This will be the second year the festival has visited Paris, and this year you'll be allowed to judge the top, gooey desserts! You can taste test your favourite ones and cast your vote for the best butter tart maker.

Narcity has reached out to the festival for comment about the specialty flavours that will be featured this year. We will update the story once we hear back.

The festival doesn't just stop at butter tarts. It's also serving up another favourite culinary delight; brunch! You can enjoy signature second-breakfast dishes like maple bacon poutine, breakfast pierogies, blueberry cream cheese french toast, and waffle bacon sandwiches. It truly doesn't get any better, or any more Canadian, than brunch and butter tarts.

The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., giving you lots of time to eat yourself into a butter tart coma. You can purchase tickets online now for this sweet, patriotic celebration!
