Ontario's Lilac Festival Is An Absolute Must-Visit Spot When Spring Has Sprung

Lilacs are arguably one of the most important flowers in Ontario. Not only do they look and smell incredible, but they also mark the official start of spring. And honestly, the season's change can not come soon enough. So, if you’re like us and are already looking ahead to spring, then you need to add this Ontario lilac festival to your bucket list ASAP.

Located in Warkworth, Ontario, just over two hours from Toronto, this month-long floral fest makes for a fantastically fun spring day trip with your BFFs.

Sure, it doesn't open for a while, as the event will get going this year on May 30-31.

But we all need warm-weather outings to look forward to while we're stuck in the dead of winter, and there's plenty going on here.

You can take a stroll down the 2.6 km Millennium Lilac Trail, stopping to smell the flowers along the way, of course. While you can walk on your own, guided tours are also available.

During the opening weekend, you will also find a crafters' market where you can score unique items from local artists, artisans, writers, and craftsmen.

Also on the schedule are things like Victorian-style tea, jazz shows, and more.

With events like this on the horizon, it’s never too early to start planning for spring.

Once you’ve had your lilac fill on the trail, you can head down to Main Street where the flower power will continue.

Here you’ll find some simply stunning floral arrangements, food, live music, and more.

There’s even a lilac-purple piano where you can sit down and play a tune of your own if you choose.

If you’re as intoxicated with this spring-scented flower as we are, you can even purchase your own to take home from the festival.

That way, you can start your own garden, or simply fill a vase to bring a touch of spring indoors.

So, with all of that in mind, it’s time to start planning your spring flower-powered road trip today.

Because the season change is just around the corner. We promise!
