6 Best-Kept Secrets At Disney World Orlando

The Happiest Place on Earth is also one of the most well-known, with multiple parks across the globe, and tourists flocking from all over the world to visit every season. But even the most well-known park has its secrets, and there are tons of hidden things around Disney that only the most dedicated of fans would know about; so here are 6 of best-kept secrets in Disney World Orlando!

The Secret Suite In Cinderella’s Castle

It was originally built for Walt Disney and his family though he passed away long before the park opened, this suite is not open for public reservations. However, Disney does hold regular sweepstakes to win a night’s stay in the suite. It features a Jacuzzi tub, 17th-century furniture, a Cinderella floor mosaic made from 24-karat gold, and a clock that is frozen at 11:59.

The Scents Of Disney World

That damp gunpowder smell in Pirates of the Caribbean, that sweet bakery scent on Main Street? Yeah, that’s no coincidence, that’s Disney World full of immersion. The parks are scented on purpose to fit the environment, pumped through hidden vents by Smellitzer machines.

The Secret Disney Tunnel System

Legend has it that Walt Disney was walking through Disneyland in the early days of the park when he saw a cowboy from Frontierland walking through Tomorrowland on his way to his post. Disney felt this threw off the guest experience, and thus the utilidors were constructed for staff use. These corridors are massive and hold way more than just empty halls. You can tour them today!

It’s All In The Architecture

While it’s clear that some serious planning went into building the parks, it’s not immediately obvious just how much. For instance, a technique called “forced perspective” was used to make Cinderella’s Castle and other buildings look bigger than they actually are. The bricks at the top of the building are smaller than those at the bottom, fooling the eyes of onlookers.

You’ll Need A Child’s Eye To Really Appreciate It

Cinderella’s Fountain is a lovely statue to admire on your walk through the park, but did you know it looks different from the perspective of a child than an adult’s? If you bend down, it appears that the mosaic behind Cinderella is actually wearing a crown around her head.

The Secret Donald Duck

Donald has always been envious of Mickey and trying to steal the spotlight, so it’s no surprise that he’s hiding in places you’d least expect it. In the Haunted Mansion, Donald’s silhouette can be found on a chair in the library, or in the endless hallway scene, as it sometimes changed location.
