While the books and movies did a fantastic job of worldbuilding, there are still tons of secrets and mysteries surrounding The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and you can experience many of those firsthand at the parks! Even the most dedicated Potterheads might not know some of these tricks and hidden treasures, so check out some of our favorite best-kept secrets of The Wizard World of Harry Potter in Orlando!
The Grouchy Goblin
Address: Gringotts Money Exchange in Diagon Alley
Why You Need To Go: Guests can trade their Muggle cash for Wizard money at Gringotts Money Exchange in Diagon Alley and use it anywhere in the park. While you’re there, be sure to have a conversation with the goblin at the desk! Try asking him about the dragon at Gringotts, or if he is a house-elf, and see what kind of response you get.
We’re Gonna Need A Bigger Broomstick
Address: Mr. Mulpepper's Apothecary
Why You Need To Go: The old Jaws attraction sat for 22 years in the site that is now Diagon Alley, before closing in 2012. You can still find Jaws references all over the park, including a set of shark jaws in the storefront of Mr. Mulpepper’s Apothecary.
Speaking In Tongues
Address: The Magical Menagerie
Why You Need To Go: Check out the window of the Magical Menagerie store. A snake is coiled within, and it will actually speak to you in Parseltongue and English.
A Kreacher In The Window
Address: 12 Grimmauld Place
Why You Need To Go: If you hang around outside 12 Grimmauld Place for long enough, you can spot Kreacher the house-elf peering out the window now and then.
The Hidden Spells
Address: Diagon Alley & Horizont Alley
Why You Need To Go: If you’re looking for different spell locations to try your interactive wand at, you won’t find them all on a map. Two locations remain unmarked, but you can search for them in the storefront of the Slug and Jiggers Apothecary in Diagon Alley, and in the right-side window of Scribbulus Writing Implements in Horizont Alley.
Ring The Ministry
Address: King's Cross
Why You Need To Go: The charming little red phone booth outside King's Cross isn’t just a great photo opportunity. If you step inside and dial 62442 (MAGIC) using the phone, you’ll be connected to the Ministry of Magic.
How many of these secrets did you know about? You can look forward to more interactive attractions with the new immersive wand system coming to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, and the new Star Wars hotel where your choices will impact your stay.
