Have you ever wondered where a modern fairy tale would take place? Since we're a bit short on enchanted forests and castle kingdoms, it might seem like the world isn't as magical as it used to be. This new park in Florida coming to Lakeland is on the yellow brick road to changing that by transforming 180-acres of land into an urban waterfront paradise complete with an aquarium, boats, botanical gardens, and even a canopy walk.
Set to open by the end of 2020, Bonnet Springs Park will basically mix together some of the coolest natural elements with modern-day amenities to create a stunning public community green space.
The best part is that there will a little bit of something for everyone.
Nature lovers will flip when they see the canopy walk, which will let you wander on a boardwalk that curves through a sea of leafy branches. You'll be able to stretch your legs and breathe deeply as you take in a bird's-eye view of the park.
Your sporty friends, on the other hand, will love to break a sweat at an outdoor fitness class. Or, they can go for an exciting jog on a 2.5-mile path that will wind through the park's scenery.
But if you're just in the mood to slow down and smell the flowers, you're definitely going to want to frolic in one of two fields of flora: the dreamy botanical sculpture gardens or the shaded American heritage gardens.
The two separate gardens will offer the perfect setting to lounge around or even do some yoga surrounded by natural beauty.
But what if you get hungry after all those hours soaking up the sun? There will be a restaurant in the community center, where you can enjoy some tasty treats on the patio.
If the virtual video tour released on the Bonnet Springs webpage of the park plans is anything to go by, there will be a bar serving some delish beverages to go with your food too.
The lagoon, complete with boat rentals, is also a key part of the project, especially for folks who want to float in the waves without driving to the beach.
Whether you're dying to do the canopy walk or just want to meditate by the lagoon, everyone is bound to have a fave activity at Bonnet Springs Park.
