D3 2019 Expo held some pretty exciting news for the future of Disney parks, and Epcot was certainly no exception. We are super stoked on announcements of attractions featuring some of our favorite characters from the movies, from ageless icons to newer generations. In particular, Mary Poppins, Ratatouille, and (finally!) Moana.

The second oldest of the four Disney parks in Orlando, Epcot is comprised of two themed areas, Future World, and World Showcase. As far as thrills go, you won’t find much in World Showcase. What you will find is more a sense of, “Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Orlando anymore … ”

Each of the eleven countries represented in World Showcase are completely immersive and blend seamlessly into one another. From the green-topped roofs of Norway to the vibrant colors of China, each country totes authentic food samples and cast members who are always eager to talk about their homeland.

The UK pavilion will hold the first-ever attraction inspired by Mary Poppins. Though details were sparse at the expo, we know it will take guests down Cherry Tree Lane and into the Number 17, home of the Banks family. We’re sure to meet Mary herself, and perhaps Admiral Boom and more of our old favorites.

In France, Remy is getting his own trackless ride in Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, where guests will shrink down to his size as Chef Skinner chases them through a 3D environment in Gusteau’s restaurant.

Of course, Moana’s attraction will be set in a new section called World Nature and isn’t actually a ride, but an experience. "Journey of Water" will be an immersive walk-through exploration where guests will experience "magical, living water."

While the French pavilion updates were slated for completion in 2020, the other attractions were not given a definite date, however, hopes are high that all will be available for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021.
