You Can Ride In A Monster Truck Bus & Pick Oranges At This Orlando Citrus Grove

In a survey of stereotypes of what people from other states thought about Florida, it wasn’t a surprise that oranges were the food most associated with the Sunshine State. A refreshing drink, a good chaser, and a yummy dessert, they’re versatile and good for you. Florida's orange-picking season is officially upon us, and at Showcase of Citrus, you’ll find over 50 varieties of citrus, ripe for the picking!

Just fifteen minutes from Disney, Showcase of Citrus is a massive farm, 2,500 acres of citrus and cattle. You’ll probably want to save a whole day for it because you’ll be doing way more than just picking oranges.

For starters, you can climb aboard one of their massive monster trucks and enjoy a tour of the entire property through woods, pastures, groves, and swamps, and learn about the farm’s history.

Or try your hand at their gem mine, where you can sift through boxes of sluice and uncover all kinds of real treasures, from crystals, shark teeth, and fossils, and take home whatever you find.

And you’ll definitely want to pay the farm animals a visit. Miniature ponies, donkeys, kangaroos, and even zebras are waiting for a handful of feed!

And of course, the u-pick grove. Admission is just $1, and you can purchase either a 5, 10 or 20-pound bag to fill with whatever fruits you want.

Around this time, you’ll find an abundance of red and yellow navel oranges, tangerines, lemons, and limes.

As we get deeper into fall and winter, the citrus trees grow even more abundant, so you’ll definitely want to plan another trip later on.

Keep the adventure going with more nature-themed fun in Orlando with this animal sanctuary where you can cuddle animals for free, and this hidden wildflower field that is in bloom right now.
