This Secret Elevator Leads To A Hidden 1920s-Themed 'Pharmacy' Speakeasy In Orlando
The Roaring '20s are upon us once again, in a whole new way! If you’re looking for a nostalgic way to celebrate the new decade, Orlando has you covered with The Pharmacy. Serving up elixirs and prescriptions from the house doctor, it’s a place you find by word of mouth only. This 1920s style speakeasy masquerades as a pharmacy, it’s elixirs and prescriptions hiding delicious would-be illegal alcohol. The best part? It’s hiding within an elevator, so good luck finding it!
The unmarked elevator door is the only clue that you’ve found what you’re looking for, and if you press the green button, the doors slide open into a whole new, hidden world. If you didn’t know better though, you’re unlikely to find the place on your own. Which gives the whole establishment a very “if you know, you know” vibe.
During happy hour (5-6:30 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday), the entire dinner menu, plus a selection of craft cocktails, is half-off, so you’ll want to snag one of their coveted tables as early as you can.
Among the flappers and jazz music, you’ll find Loren Falsone whipping up quality dishes to compliment your ailments. Dominick Tardugno, the Apothecary, brews up the perfect concoction to take care of just about any disease.
Their food is local, organic, and sustainable, with exotic twists to put a bit of spice in your night.
Sample the scoop of bone marrow on 100-year-old sourdough crostini, garnished with pulled oxtail and ghost chili-strawberry preserves, and wash it down with a stiff, hand-crafted poison like the "Trapped in the Basement" or "The Barry McCauckiner Cocktail.”
Their "pharmaceuticals" are brewed from the finest herbs to provide you with an antidote for all your troubles.
Every tincture you find in the medicine cabinet is hand-crafted, and only the freshest greens are used for their bitters, tonics, and sodas. With names like the “Cordial Maniac” and “Good Shit,” it’s bound to be an entertaining night.
Make sure you save room for the from-scratch dessert menu. Though excluded from happy hour, the delicious options, including Sous Vide Sticky Chocolate Toffee Bread Pudding Crème Brulee, is worth every penny.
