I can smell summer.
13 Patios You Need To Hit Up In Ottawa Now That It’s Not Cold AF

All of the snow in Ottawa has finally melted, and to us, that immediately means patio season. When us Ottawans are cooped up all winter long and can only have a drink indoors, we get cranky. So even though it's almost May and patio season is only just beginning, we can't be too picky.

Although some places in Ottawa still don't consider it patio season, we do. Some of these spots may not be open until May, but one week won't kill us. There is not a lot better than sangria, your BFFs and great food while sitting on a patio looking out at the city. Let's just pray the weather stays this nice!

Where: 297 Dalhousie St

Why you should go: Atari is in the middle of the ByWard Market, so it gives you a clear view of the stunning city. They have amazing drinks, and even ones that have cotton candy in them! Head here with your BFFs for some great food, drinks, and to even get a tan on their rooftop.

Pub Italia

Where: 434 Preston St

Why you should go: Pub Italia is unlike anything you've seen before. It's a church-themed pub, and they even have something called the Beer Bible, which is obviously a huge book of the kinds of beer they carry. If you're looking for a different experience, and a place that's super popular and fun, this is it!

Tavern on the Hill

Where: 1223 Alexandra Bridge

Why you should go: I mean, just look at that view! If that's not enough to get you there, then knowing they sell gourmet sausages probably will. Tavern on the Hill has a ton of seating, in the background is the National Gallery of Canada, and they have an extensive beer and wine list. What more could you want?!

Where: 92 Clarence St

Why you should go: Cornerstone has one of the biggest patios in Ottawa, and it's always a good time. They have seating indoors with a huge open window, or you can sit on the patio that's wrapped around the restaurant. They have great food and drinks, and you'll want to stay there all day.

Copper Spirits and Sights

Where: 325 Dalhousie St

Why you should go: By now, pretty much everyone has been to the top of Andaz Ottawa ByWard Market to visit Copper Spirits and Sights. And if you haven't, you need to do it this summer! The views are amazing, as it gives you a clear view of downtown Ottawa. If you're looking for a unique drink, they make the best caesars that are rimmed with ketchup chips. So Canadian!

Churchills Pub

Where: 356 Richmond Rd

Why you should go: Most people think the best patios would be downtown, but one is definitely in Westboro. Churchills Pub is a rooftop patio that will give you a clear view of Westboro, and no matter if it's a little chilly that day or super hot, you'll want to stay all day. They have a ton of great food options on their menu, so you're all set!

Mexicali Rosa's

Where: 1001 Queen Elizabeth Dr

Why you should go: Mexicali Rosa's looks over Dow's Lake, and in the summer it's the perfect spot to have drinks with friends. They have great drinks like pina coladas, daiquiris, and much more. Oh, and did I mention they have unreal Mexican food?

The Grand Pizzeria and Bar

Where: 74 George St

Why you should go: The Grand Pizzeria and Bar is one of the most popular pizza spots in Ottawa. Not only do they serve great pizza, but they're right as you walk in to the ByWard Market, so you can't miss it! Their pizza is to die for, and they have the best sangria I've ever tried. If you're looking for a great patio, great pizza, and great drinks, here it is!

Courtyard Restaurant

Where: 21 George St

Why you should go: If you're looking for something a little more fancy and a little more hidden, the Courtyard Restaurant downtown is perfect. It kind of looks like you've teleported to Italy with all the stone surrounding you. They're open for brunch, lunch, and dinner, so you can see the beautiful Courtyard all day!

Metropolitain Brasserie

Where: 700 Sussex Dr

Why you should go: Although we have a ton of patios in Ottawa, there are some that are sort of hidden. This one is hidden below some stairs, and you've probably passed it a million times before while walking downtown. Metropolitain Brasserie is a French restaurant that has a 'hill hour' every week day from 3 to 7, and it's basically cheap food but so delicious. And with a glass of beer on the patio, after work can't get any better!

El Furniture Warehouse

Where: 77 Clarence St

Why you should go: El Furniture Warehouse is known for the $5 meals, their amazing drinks, and their great rooftop patio. They even have a bar on the rooftop patio so you know it's legit. It's in the middle of the ByWard Market, so you're in on all the action!

Where: 537 Sussex Dr

Why you should go: Not only is Social stunning on the inside, but the outside is beautiful as well. It's more of a lounge area, but that doesn't mean you can't stay there all day and drink and eat with friends. Plus, it's so aesthetically pleasing that there is no way you won't get a cute Instagram picture.

Bier Markt

Where: 156 Sparks St

Why you should go: Bier Markt is a great restaurant on Sparks St with an even better patio. You can drink their delicious beer while basking in the sun and eating foods like soft pretzels, sharing boards, or branch out and get their bacon jalapeno mac and cheese.
