Canada's Largest Hot Air Balloon Festival Is Happening Close To Ottawa This Summer
Summer is fast approaching! Before we know it the brutal winter that we just went through will be a distant memory and our only thoughts will be on how much sunshine we can soak up in those short 3 months.
If you're looking for fun activities near Ottawa you definitely can't miss out on Canada's largest hot air balloon festival that takes over Gatineau every year. Experience the bright blue summer skies from a new perspective with the largest celebration of it's kind!
The Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival is probably the coolest festival that will happen all summer. From August 29th to September 2nd head over to Baie Park in Gatineau, Quebec and experience the magic!
There will be tons of unique balloons at the event in different shapes, colours, and sizes that have travelled to the festival from all over the world. They also have balloon lift-offs which offer a magical site of all the balloons in the sky! Normally the lift-offs happen 2 hours after sunrise and 2 hours after sunset, approximately 6:30 am and 6 pm.
You don't have to spend the entire time on the ground taking in the magic though, you can also purchase an air balloon ride if you want to! Air balloon rides cost $325 per person for a 20-90 minute ride depending on wind and speed.
Other than admiring the hot air balloons there are tons of exciting things to take part in during the festival including over 300 live shows, an amusement park, a firework display, a craft market, a classic car exhibit, and much more!
