Ottawa's Famous Haunted Mansion Has An Upgraded Experience For You This Month

Billings Estate is back with a brand new scary story!

If you live in Ottawa and you love anything scary, you might visit the Billings Estate National Historic Site every year for their Halloween events. The giant mansion on a hill is transformed into something sinister every Halloween, and their haunted house experiences are said to be some of the best in the city. This year, “Curse at Park Hill” will run at the Billings Estate from October 17 through November 2, 2019. It’s a brand new interactive haunted experience for adults that you can’t miss.

You’ll have a task to complete as part of the story for Curse at Park Hill, and this will guide your after-dark exploration of the nearly 200-year-old mansion. If you’ve experienced a Billings Estate Halloween event in the past, you’ll find that Curse at Park Hill follows a new format and is different from a traditional haunted house.

The narrative is inspired by Ottawa’s historic connections to lumbering and the timber trade. Curse at Park Hill is designed to play off your own imagination as you make your way through the haunted house, which is also home to the museum.

The story begins with an artifact that seems to be the source of a dark and unnatural force that has taken over the museum. The artifact is connected to a mystery that hasn’t been solved in hundreds of years. Everything comes to a head after museum staff members disappear one by one, leaving behind an unfinished exhibition with clear signs of a struggle.

It’s up to you to replace these missing staff members and join the museum team to confront the horrors ahead. Will you break the curse or risk the same fate as those who have disappeared before you? There’s only one way to find out!

You can test your sleuthing skills in this haunted setting on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings from October 17 to November 2, 2019. They won’t be selling tickets at the door, so advanced registration is required. Tickets are going for $17.50 per person.

Tickets are available for five timeslots each evening at every hour, starting at 6 p.m. and ending with a 10 p.m. timeslot. Each timeslot accommodates a maximum of 16 guests, and you’ll enter the experience as a member of one of four intern teams.

Though the experience will take approximately 40 minutes to complete, you should anticipate being on site for up to 1.5 hours. You need to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled timeslot because there will be no further admittance once the haunted house begins.
