Ottawa's Popular 24 Hour Bagel Shop Is Celebrating The New Year With A "New Schmear"

There are a lot of great ways to start the new year. New Year's Eve always has a ton of great parties, and January is a great time to think about your resolutions. Of course, another great way to start 2020 would be with a delicious bagel in your hand. Kettleman's Bagels is looking forward to 2020 too, and celebrating the new year with a "new schmear."

On Twitter, the popular Ottawa Bagel shop shared that it would be letting people choose its newest flavour of cream cheese for 2020.

"New year, new schmear! ✨ Is there a flavour of cream cheese you wish you could try? Give us your suggestions and we might make it for you! The comment with the most likes wins. We’ll pick a winner on January 7," the Tweet reads.

So far, there are only a few comments underneath the original tweet, with suggestions including cookies & cream, bacon, maple, and New York style cheesecake.

Over on Instagram, there are a few other suggestions including ube and balsamic and roasted onion.

Kettleman's already has 13 great spreads to choose from listed on their menu. These include chive, roasted red pepper goat cheese, dill pickle, lox, and garlic. They even have blueberry and chocolate cream cheeses for people with a sweet tooth.

Kettleman's is no stranger to creative flavours. During the holiday season, they introduced a candy cane bagel. To go along with that holiday creation, they also introduced a gingerbread flavoured cream cheese for a limited time.

Since Kettleman's prides itself on being open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, it's good to know that after a long night of partying in the nation's capital, you'd be able to stop in for some late night nourishment.

If you think you've got a great idea for a new schmear, add it to the list! It might just end up getting made.
