The Ottawa Airport Now Has Therapy Dogs To Keep You Company While You Wait For Your Flight

If you have ever been to an airport, you know flying can often become pretty stressful. Whether you're trying to make it to your next layover, or are stuck through hours of delays, flying isn't always the most joyful. Luckily, Ottawa Airport is trying to make traveling a bit easier for their guests. It was announced on Thursday that they have officially hired four Ottawa Airport therapy dogs to help comfort passengers during their stressful travels.
According to the Ottawa Airport Authority website, they have partnered with St. John Ambulance to offer therapy dogs at YOW. Launching the program on Thursday, anxious travellers are already taking full advantage of these well-trained therapy dogs.
If you're looking to cuddle up next to one of these pups during your next visit at Ottawa Airport, the therapy dogs will be roaming around the Canada/International hold room during busy hours on most Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The dogs will be easy for travellers to spot as they will be wearing red bandanas.
According to the Ottawa Airport, travellers will be able to pet and interact with the therapy dogs to help reduce any stress they may have from delayed flights or busy areas.
Of course, this sounds like the paw-fect way to spend your time at the airport, especially if you're feeling a little bit stressed during your travels.
The four dogs, three males, and one female are already eager to be helping some stressful travellers.
Oakley, Happy, Rio, and KSera are already doing a phenomenal job at helping those around them, and they were even spotted around the airport on Thursday during their very first day on the job.
However, Ottawa Airport isn't the first Ontario airport to offer therapy dogs to their travellers.
Earlier this year, Toronto's Pearson Airport hired 15 therapy dogs to roam around both Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 to help comfort passengers and make their flying experience a little less stressful.
Both airports are partnered with St. John Ambulance, who have spent over twenty years training and offering multiple therapy dog programs across Canada.
