Things are getting cheesy in Ottawa this fall and you won't want to miss it! From grilled cheese to mac 'n' cheese, and every cheesy treat in between, there’s more than enough melted goodness for everyone at the Super Cheese Festival, taking place in Festival Plaza at Ottawa's City Hall this October 4-6. There will also be plenty of boozy bevvies available, as if you needed more of a reason to attend, so if you consider yourself somewhat of a cheese connoisseur, then this Ottawa cheese festival is the place to brie.
An appetite, a bib, and your BFF are all you'll need to bring to enjoy this festival, organizer Les Gagne tells Narcity.
While this is the first year for the Super Cheese Festival, it is the product of merging two past festivals together, Gagne explains.
"We started four years ago with the launch of Mac 'n Cheese Fest," Gagne explains.
"It's been very successful. Then we decided to launch a new Grilled Cheese Festival but had to postpone it due to the park not being available at the time of year we wanted. So, we joined the two cheese festivals together," says Gagne.
"Then we said: 'Why stop there? Let's make this the Super Cheese Festival featuring mac 'n' cheese, grilled cheese, and everything cheese.'"
You can expect all kinds of epic cheese dishes as well as a few local cheese vendors from Ontario and Quebec. Additionally, there will be a beverage garden featuring both local and international wines, spirits, craft beers, and craft sodas.
And, to top it all off, event-goers will get to hear live, local music from the Super Cheese Stage. There are even a few surprises in store, according to Gagne.
Super Cheese Festival will be open Oct. 4-6, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Prices have not yet been determined, but Gagne plans on releasing a new festival pass with epic benefits soon, so keep your eyes peeled.
It's not the first cheese festival to have been held in the city, but it could be one of the best.
