National Ice Cream For Breakfast Day is right around the corner and one Ottawa ice cream shop is inviting you to come out in your PJs to celebrate the delicious holiday. Yes, you heard us right, not only can you indulge in sweet frozen dessert for breakfast, but you don’t even need to get dressed to do so. Now that’s our kind of holiday! So if you’re looking for an excuse to have Ottawa ice cream for breakfast, now’s your chance.

Ottawa’s The Merry Dairy will be serving up a variety of their premium ice cream flavours on top of fluffy waffles in honour of the special day.

For an extra treat, if you come dressed in your pyjamas, you can also enjoy a free hot chocolate or coffee from Equator Cofee in Westboro.

National Ice Cream For Breakfast Day happens every year on the first Saturday of February, meaning this year’s event will fall on Feb. 1.

Talk about starting the month right!

Whether you’re looking for a unique Ottawa date idea, or simply want to satisfy your sweet tooth, Feb. 1 is the day to do it.

So grab your coziest pyjamas, your BFF, and your appetite, and get ready for the sweetest breakfast date you’ve ever had.

After being closed for the holidays since Dec. 28, The Merry Dairy will be reopening its doors just in time for what we think might be the best national day around.

According to the event page, this day originated in Rochester N.Y. It's now enjoyed by ice cream lovers in Canada, Nepal, Namibia, Germany, New Zealand, Honduras, China, and Israel.

Now, there’s certainly no shortage of bucket list-worthy ice cream spots in the capital, but it’s not every day that you’re encouraged to come in wearing your PJs.

So be sure to mark your calendars for Feb. 1 so you can take advantage of the lazy dress code.

Take casual Sunday to the next level!
