Since it was launched back in September last year, Ottawa’s LRT has had pretty consistent problems. From delays and overcrowding, to cancellations and malfunctions, rarely a day goes by without some sort of issue. Naturally, residents of the city have taken to social media to share their thoughts and feelings about Ottawa’s LRT problems, and the tweets are so accurate they’ll make you laugh (and cry).
It’s no secret that the capital city’s newest rail service has been a bit of a disaster since day one, and Ottawa’s commuters have been complaining about it from the outset.
Last year, the service was so unreliable that a support group had to be set up for stressed and anxious passengers, and the city’s mayor went as far as to say that riding the multi-billion dollar LRT was an “awful experience.”
While there’s been issues with the transit system for several months now, frustrations have recently reached boiling point, as the trains seem to be struggling to cope with our wet, snowy winters.
During one of the heaviest snowfalls of the season this year, the city was running only half of the necessary trains during peak commuting hours, two of which became immobilized on the tracks.
As the city’s commuters continue to share horror stories and jokes about the LRT, it’s nice to know we’re not alone in our experiences. If we don’t laugh, we’ll cry!
