He's a Vanier boy! Vancouver-born Ryan Reynolds revealed that he spent some of his childhood living in Ottawa, and he donated to the local food bank over the weekend. With the help of a fan, he pinpointed the exact building he and his family lived in.
The Deadpool star and wife Blake Lively have been quite the generous couple during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Staying true to his Canadian roots, the two donated $1 million to food banks in Canada and the U.S., $4,000 to help an Edmonton food bank reach their goal and he even virtually surprised patients at SickKids Hospital in Toronto.
Over Easter weekend, the couple donated to the Ottawa Food Bank to help those in need.
CEO Michael Maidment shared a message directly from the 43-year-old actor, writing that he's "so grateful" for the couple's support in helping families affected by COVID-19.
Reynolds' message reads, "Blake and I are so happy to give back to a country that's given us so much. I happily have Canada running through my blood. So excited for the country to get through these tough times."
He continued, "I used to live in Ottawa (in Vanier). It holds a special place in my heart. So happy to donate to your amazing food bank."

Reynolds sharing that he used to call Ottawa home sparked quite the attention of keen fans.
One user tweeted, "Where in Vanier? Need to put a plaque!"
The actor replied, "I lived in a high rise. There were three in a row. I thought they were called, “The Vanier Towers”. I looked it up and they now seem to be business towers. My memory‘s a little foggy. I was around 13 yrs old at the time but I wasn’t particularly bright for my age."

Reynolds hasn't previously discussed his time living in Ottawa but he's pretty vocal about being a Vancouver boy. He even named his Instagram and Twitter handles after Vancity.
According to The Canadian Encyclopedia, Reynolds was born in Vancouver to a "police officer father and a retail salesperson mother" along with three older brothers. He moved to Los Angeles when he was 19 years old, hoping to make it big in the acting industry.
When he does visit Vancity, Reynolds shared that he hits up a local restaurant that makes the best apple pies, which he and Lively secretly bring back to the U.S. to munch on.
