Well folks... it seems like our 3rd round of winter has arrived. This weekend Southern Ontario was hit with a massive ice storm. The crazy storm has caused many power outages and traffic accidents. The insane ice storm contained hugegusts of wind up to 85 km/h, freezing rain, flooding, fallen debris and slippery roads!
Nobody is happy about the fact that this winter keeps coming back and spring is taking forever to finally arrive. But one Ottawa man sure knew how to make the most out of a bad situation. He laced up his skates for (hopefully) the last time this winter and headed outside for a casual skate down his street! If you've been having a pretty sucky Monday morning since you saw the ice glaze on your window, then this video is sure to put a smile on your face.
Even though this weather absolutely sucks, I think we can all learn a classic lesson from this hilarious video. When life hands you lemons, make lemonade. Good luck to everyone out in the ice right now, you've got this.
"It's looking positive to be able to open schools towards the end of May if the rate of COVID continues to come down in our community."
Etches also mentioned that a regional approach might be the best option when it comes to reopening schools across the province.
"What am I encouraged by, is the conversations about being able to open schools is happening and that is something where I think the regional approach is a valid way to go," she stated. "That's the first step, we need to get schools open and then we need to take a look at other measures that could be relaxed."
According to police, Shanks "had previously engaged with the mother of the child on a social media chat group for new mothers and had brought a gift for the mother and newborn at her home" on Friday, just two days before the alleged abduction.
Shanks is said to have "forcefully entered" the Ottawa home using bear repellent spray and abducted the baby, however, neighbours intervened and were able to "detain" Shanks until police arrived.
The baby was given to Ottawa Paramedics and was unharmed, authorities state — investigators also believe Shanks "may have been in contact with other new mothers" in similar social media groups.
