Autumn wouldn't be complete without going for a hike to see the fall foliage! Around Ottawa, one of the best spots to enjoy breathtaking views of the fall leaves is at Gatineau Park. However, if you don't have access to a car, it can be challenging to visit this park. Thankfully, this season during Fall Rhapsody, there is a free shuttle bus to Gatineau Park from Ottawa!
Every year, the National Capital Commission celebrates Fall Rhapsody, which marks the prime time to enjoy vibrant fall colours outdoors. This is when you'll be able to take a free shuttle bus from Ottawa to Gatineau Park. Make sure to mark your calendars because you don't want to miss this opportunity. It's the perfect chance to spend some time outdoors and enjoy the colourful fall foliage.
This year, the shuttle will run every weekend in October 2019 (Oct. 5-6, 12-14, 19-20, and 26-27). In Ottawa, you'll be able to catch the bus at the Supreme Court between 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the shuttle arriving approximately every 20-30 minutes.
There will also be additional pickups in Gatineau that run from 9:05 a.m. to 1 p.m. every 30-40 minutes. You'll be able to board the shuttle at the Outaouais Tourism Office, on Allard Street near Robert-Guertin Centre, and the Rapibus stop on Montcalm street.
The Fall Rhapsody shuttle bus will stop at some breathtaking spots within the park. This year, some stops include Champlain Lookout, King Mountain, Waterfall Trail, Pink Lake, and Mackenzie-King Estate.
It's a good idea to review the map of the shuttle stops along the hiking trails nearby before you depart because it'd be impossible to see everything in one day. Luckily, the bus runs every weekend in October, so you can return and explore a new area of the park!
The last shuttle from Champlain Lookout will depart for Ottawa and Gatineau at 4 p.m. The full schedule of the shuttle bus will be posted in the next few days. Make sure to check it for updates!
