Tiger King On Netflix Just Got A Hilarious Shout-Out On An Ottawa Pub Sign

Over the last couple of weeks, many of us have found ourselves staying at home a lot more than usual. The result of all of this free time is a lot more snacking, and a lot more streaming. Thankfully, the new docuseries Tiger King on Netflix has kept us pretty entertained, and one Ottawa pub seems to be loving it just as much as we are!

If you haven’t heard of Netflix’s new show Tiger King yet, where have you been?!

It’s a seven-part documentary series about Joe Exotic, a polygamous, gun-slinging, tiger-owning, music-video-making man with a grudge. A serious grudge.

Without giving too much away, his grievance is with Carole Baskin, a self-described animal rights activist who is accused by Exotic of murdering her husband and feeding him to her own personal collection of big cats. Yup.

Alongside millions of us who have binged this show since it was released last month, one of Ottawa’s local businesses is getting involved in all of the fun.

The Cheshire Cat Pub, a tavern located on Richardson Side Road in Carp, has recently revealed a brand new sign on their premises, and it’s perfect for anybody fully invested in Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin.

The sign, which is located outside of the pub alongside the road, reads, "Honk if u think Carol Baskin killed her husband."

In fact, it's almost like Joe himself created it!

The Ottawa pub shared their hilarious new sign on their Twitter page on Wednesday, reminding locals that they're stocked up on meals, ice cream and liquor.

The Cheshire Cat is no stranger to hilarious signs, having put up one that said "Has anyone tried unplugging 2020 for 10 seconds and plugging it back in?" last month.

Speaking to Narcity, the owners explained, "Everyone needs a laugh right now and is anything more relevant than a binge-worthy Netflix show that is so bad you can’t look away from because you have nothing else to do?"

They added that they've received hundreds of "virtual honks" through social media, as well as many public ones.

As it turns out, Joe Exotic isn’t the only one who thinks Carole Baskin is guilty AF.

Speaking to Narcity this week, Tiger King’s Jeff Lowe also accused the Big Cat Rescue owner of something suspicious.

“She did it. :)” Lowe told Narcity USA in a text message.

However, in a lengthy post on the Big Cat Rescue website, Baskin has denied any involvement in her husband's disappearance.

"It is imperative to all of us to laugh as much as we can, to and share anything we think will make us laugh. I know those are the best parts of my day right now," the Cheshire Cat owner added.

While the Cheshire Cat Pub is currently closed in line with the provincial government’s COVID-19 restrictions, they’re still open for delivery and pick-up, and you can give them a honk if you’re driving past!

Only if you think Carole is guilty, of course!
