Chelsea Handler is a certified comedic badass. You’ve probably eagerly soaked up her Netflix documentary series, Chelsea Does, and her late-night talk show, Chelsea Lately. We watch her because she’s friggin’ hilarious, and unapologetically herself.

She’s also an accomplished author, rocking the New York Times’ bestseller list with titles like Are You There Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea and Uganda Be Kidding Me.

Handler has turned her no-holds-barred attitude towards our cultural hang-ups around marriage, tech and race. And now she’s tackling one of the biggest cultural shifts of the decade: our attitude towards cannabis.

Hander has never shied away from controversy. And with Canadian legalization coming in hot on October 17, Handler is hosting a series of town hall events across Canada to get real people’s perspective on the topic.

‘A Civilized Conversation with Chelsea Handler’ kicks off in Calgary on September 20. Other stops on the tour are Vancouver, Winnipeg, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Halifax.

The tour is sponsored by Civilized, a premium media and lifestyle brand.

“Chelsea Handler’s perspective, approach and humour galvanize and inspire her audiences wherever she goes,” says Civilized founder and publisher Derek Riedle. Riedle, who is a leader in the cannabis industry and a sought-after speaker, is set to moderate the town hall events.

Handler has long been an outspoken advocate of human rights, using her platform to fight against injustice and inequality. She’s also currently working on a new Netflix doc that explores white privilege in America. Wherever Handler goes, things are sure to get uncomfortable – and very interesting.

Town hall attendees can expect that typical Handler charm paired with a deep dive into current political and social issues.

The tour is modeled after a similar event series that Handler has been doing in U.S. cities, focused on social and political activism.

As one of the strongest celebrity political voices, the chance to see Handler speak live is a once-and-a-lifetime opportunity.

Here’s the full tour lineup:

Calgary, AB: September 20, Bella Concert Hall (U Calgary)
Vancouver, BC: September 21, Chan Centre for the Performing Arts (UBC)
Winnipeg, MB: September 22, Burton Cummings Theatre
Montreal, QC: October 4, Theatre St-Denis
