Loblaws Recalls Some Sauces After Pieces Of Glass Were Found In Them

The CFIA is currently investigating to see if more products are affected.

Effective immediately, Loblaws has announced that some PC brand sauces were recalled due to pieces of glass. The recall was issued yesterday, May 3 and applies to three specific sauces made by President's Choice, including the PC Black Label brand. 

In the recall notice from the Government of Canada, they say "Loblaw Companies Limited is recalling certain President's Choice brand and PC Black Label brand sauces from the marketplace due to the potential presence of glass pieces." 

The recall also goes on to say that "this recall was triggered by the Company. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products."

So far the products that have been recalled by Loblaws are: 

  • President's Choice Creamy Horseradish, 250 ML, with a best before date on or before September 9, 2019
  • President's Choice Thai Red Curry Cooking Sauce, 400 ML, with a best before date on or before December 15, 2019 
  • PC Black Label Lemon Curd, 250 ML, with a best before date on or before September 21, 2019 

The CFIA is asking Canadians to check and see if they have these products at home. Anyone with one of these affected products in their home is advised to not consume it and either throw it out or return it to the store where it was purchased.

It's not yet known how pieces of glass got into these specific sauces or if more products could be at risk, but the CFIA is currently conducting an investigation. 

Fortunately, so far no injuries have been reported in relation to this recall.
