For a lot of people, the holiday season is filled with plenty of presents and cheer to help you unwind from your normal life, celebrities included. Recently, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Canada trip gave the couple a chance to get some serious rest.
2019 was a big year for the Royal couple — they welcomed their first son, Archie, into the world, celebrated their first wedding anniversary and had a never-ending battle with the British tabloids, which were trying to tear down Duchess Meghan.
A few months back, rumours started swirling that the Duchess and Prince Harry were contemplating moving to Canada, and although those quickly got shot down, the pair did confirm that they hoped to spend more time in our beautiful country.
It looks as though their wish came true, as the duo headed across the pond for the holiday season, along with baby Archie and Markle's mother, Doria Ragland.
Neither the Duchess nor the Prince are strangers to Canada — Markle used to live in Toronto while she was working on the hit series Suits, and Prince Harry has visited on several occasions to fulfill his royal duties.
This trip was different than others in the past though; the couple used their time away from home to relax and unwind after a hectic year.
Prince Harry, Meghan, and Archie, we’re all wishing you a quiet and blessed stay in Canada. You’re among friends, and always welcome here.— Justin Trudeau (@Justin Trudeau) 1576893355.0
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau welcomed the couple warmly via a tweet, letting them know that they're among friends here, and he definitely wasn't wrong.
The Royal couple then headed across the country to Vancouver, where they met up with Ragland to celebrate Archie's first Christmas.
It's not clear how long the family will remain in Canada, but just like Trudeau said, we welcome them with open arms.
