The RCMP Is Hiring New Cadets But The Training Sounds Intense

Think you're up for it?
RCMP Recruitment Process Is Taking Place Right Now & The Training Sounds Intense

The RCMP is an institution in Canada. Far from just wearing those bright red coats and wide-brimmed hats, the mounties are one of the most important organizations in Canada's law enforcement field. If you have ever thought about joining up and pursuing a career with them, you can now take part in the RCMP recruitment process.

On November 13, the RCMP announced on their Facebook page that they were currently hiring new recruits to take part in the cadet program.

According to the RCMP's website, the cadet training program takes place at Depot, the training facility in Regina, Saskatchewan, and lasts for 26 weeks.

Anyone who wants to get in on this opportunity, though, should know that the training can be very intense.

For example, upon arrival at Depot, recruits should already be able to run 5 KM continuously. They will also have to eventually work their way up to being able to run 10 and 20 KM continuously.

Recruits will be expected to display proficiency in physical fitness as well as a variety of other fields including police sciences, driving, and firearms.

The RCMP website describes the environment as "highly interactive," and that it includes "scenarios, case studies, role plays, lectures, panel discussions, presentations and community interaction."

A typical day at Depot runs from 6 AM to 4:30 PM, so if you're not prepared to be up at the crack of dawn, this might not be for you.

However, if you're the kind of person that wants to put all of themselves into becoming an RCMP officer, then this opportunity is definitely something to consider.

Another great perk is that you don't have to pay to take part in the training program. In fact, if you pass all the requirements to be recruited into the Cadet program, you will actually receive $525 a week during training.

You can view the requirements for joining the cadet program and find out how to apply at the RCMP website.

The RCMP often deals with serious cases, such as carrying out the manhunt for alleged murderers Bryer Schmegelsky and Kam McLeod.

However, they also know how to have fun, like when a mountie stopped at the Timmies drive-thru on horseback.
