There's a reason why MTV Cribs was such a hit. It's a special treat to be able to glimpse into the lifestyles of others, especially when they're very different from yours. Also, it's always interesting to see the unusual things some people have in their homes. This retro Calgary home for sale will give you the same satisfaction as MTV Cribs, and maybe even more so.
This huge Calgary home is currently on the market for $1.5 million and it's located in the Collingwood neighbourhood. As you peruse the photos, you'll notice some unique assets that you wouldn't normally come across. You may think you've seen some unusual homes in your life, but we're sure they're nothing compared to this.
The home was built in 1965 and “in 1980’s it was extensively transformed,” says the listing. When you take a look at it, you’ll have no idea what era it came from and what influenced the peculiar architecture and finishings.
“A big part of this home is the addition of the 3 storey high, indoor pool area and upper 3rd level bonus area.. (Currently the pool area has been covered over),” reads the listing. What was formerly a “pool area” is now a huge open area with carpet floors and a basketball hoop.
When you find out there used to be a pool there, it makes a little bit more sense.
A post on Reddit about the home reads "For $1.5Mil in Calgary you can have an A&W Colored Kitchen and carpeted bathrooms."
If you like carpet, you'll love this home. There are many different colours, patterns, and textures of carpet throughout the place.
The house has five bedrooms, five full bathrooms, three half bathrooms, and three parking spaces. One of the many rooms is just a big open space with bright green carpets and a mattress sitting in the middle.
Another bedroom has a number of single beds and not a colour other than beige in sight.
We are left to wonder if this Calgary mansion was on trend back in the day or if it was always an eclectic mix of generations.
The home is giant, unique, and has a ton of natural light.
We are both intrigued and completely disoriented by this home and we're sure if those walls could talk, they'd have some stories to tell.
Maybe the next iteration of this house will be a 90s and 2000s fusion. Now that, we can get behind.
