Every time you visit the Aquarium, it feels like a new experience. There are constantly new animals being plugged into the existing space, but there's a whole new exhibit coming that will add some serious square footage. Your 2020 under-the-sea visit will actually be a whole new experience because sharks are moving into Georgia Aquarium. The new shark exhibit is seriously insane.

A 45,000-square-feet exhibit* is currently under construction at this very moment. The new space costs a whopping $100 million and will be housed at the current front entrance of the Aquarium, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle

This innovative exhibit will house hammerheads, sand tigers, sandbars, and silvertip sharks. The large, immersive windows above and around you will make it seem like the sharks are just inches away.

Many people correlate sharks with danger, but in the new interactive exhibits, guests might change their minds. Yes, you'll get the chance to experience an animal interaction with these fascinating creatures. More details on what exactly that interaction will look like will be released closer to opening (official date not yet released).

If you're itching to get a thorough glimpse of what's to come, you can witness an exclusive projected walkthrough from the two-minute mark.

One million gallons of water are being added to the aquarium exclusively for the sharks. There's no doubt that this process will likely be documented in The Aquarium, Animal Planet's latest show on the behind-the-scenes action at the Georgia Aquarium.

With this expansion comes new shopping spaces, decks, and entrances and exits. At this rate, the Georgia Aquarium is well on its way to reclaiming its title as the world's largest aquarium.

Narcity has contacted the Aquarium for more exclusive details on this latest expansion. We’ll update the story when more details are confirmed.

Construction at the aquarium has recently just hit a milestone, so you'll likely have to go through the temporary entrance for the upcoming Pride Kickoff Party and Sips Under The Sea.
