Ahhh, summer. That time of the year where we feel totally shameless about drinking a lot of booze, wearing minimal amounts of clothing, and spending all the money we don't have on things like music festivals. I mean, is there really any other way to make the most of the summer?

I really don't think so. When the level of fun you can have that most music festivals is so high, it's pretty hard to say no to a enevitably messy weekend. So in the true spirit of summer, what do you say we start making plans to let our hair down, dance our asses off, and vibe real hard? Here are six music festivals you need to go to in Saskatchewan this summer if you're in the mood to be young, wild, and free.

Gateway Music Festival // July 21-23

Located in the charming small Saskatchewan town of Bengough, Gateway Music Festival brings together thousand of music lovers together from across the province and beyond. The festival is a three-day celebration featuring a range of music genres including rock, indie, and folk. If you're wanting to explore the beauty of the prairies and get a music festival in along the way, you have to check out Gateway.

Saskatoon Jazz Festival // June 23-July 2

Located in the beautiful gardens behind the historic Delta Bessborough Hotel, Saskatoon's Jazz Festival throws one of the best jazz parties in all of Western Canada. The festival spans over 10 days and showcases some of the best musicians in jazz, blues, funk, and pop genres.

Lineup includes Amanda Marshall, Dehli 2 Dublin, Feist, Serena Ryder, Walk Off The Earth, and more.

Country Thunder // July 13-16

Formerly known as Craven Country Jamboree, Country Thunder is Saskatchewan's ultimate country music festival. Every year, thousands of country fans set up camp in the Qu'Appelle Valley and throw one hell of a party. The festival brings in some of the hottest country stars, hosts a rodeo, and encourages you to drink a ridiculous amount of beer. If you like to get down and dirty, Country Thunder is where it's at.

Regina Folk Fest // August 10-13

Located downtown Regina in Victoria Park, Regina's Folk Fest provides an intimate musical experience where you can pull up your own lawn chair, grab a cold beer, and listen to some great Canadian artists. It's one of Regina's most popular outdoor festivals and with this the latest release of this year's unreal lineup, you aren't gonna want to miss out on this one.

Ness Creek Music Festival // July 13-16

Tucked away in the forests of Northern Saskatchewan, Ness Creek Music Festival is for the outdoorsy adventurers that want to listen to some good tunes and live off the grid while doing so. The festival brings together a big community of campers each year and features over 100 environmental artistic and cultural activities.

Connect Festival // August 4-7

Located in Moose Jaw, Connect is Saskatchewan's longest running electronic and tribal music festival. Every year, ravers gather at the festival and vibe real hard. If you're into the electronic music scene, you might want to add this to your summer to-do list as it's the last year it will be happening!
