Ontario is basking in the glow of the new royal baby (literally) with the illumination of the CN Tower and Niagara Falls, proving that Ontarians are truly just as excited as the Brits when it comes to celebrating the arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's new baby boy. Baby Sussex was born early Monday morning and it seemed like the whole world stopped to share in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's joy, including Canada. Significant Ontario landmarks commemorated the occasion by glowing festive colours on Monday night.
Niagara Falls glowed blue yesterday to mark the birth day of the royal baby. For the first 15 minutes of every hour between 9:00 PM and 11:00 PM, the illumination board lit the falls in a vibrant shade of blue.
The colourful lighting of Niagara Falls to mark special occasions has been a longtime tradition since 1925. The falls glowed blue when Prince George and Prince Louis were born in 2013 and 2018, respectively, to Prince William and Kate Middleton, while they glowed pink when Princess Charlotte was born in 2015.

The CN Tower was also uniquely illuminated to celebrate the royal baby. The Toronto landmark glowed a fitting shade of regal purple (Queen Elizabeth surely approved!) to commemorate the special day for the British royal family.

The new royal baby, who has yet to be named, is the first child for the Prince and the Duchess of Sussex, as well as Queen Elizabeth II's eighth great-grandchild. The newborn is seventh in line to the throne.
