When we were younger, a day at the beach meant swimming until your fingers pruned and building sandcastles with colourful buckets along the shoreline. Ah, simpler times. Well, if you’re feeling nostalgic this summer then you need to check out the Sauble Beach Sandfest. Far more extravagant than the castles we made as kids, these epic sand sculptures are sure to blow your mind.

Plus, who doesn’t love a good excuse to take a beach trip?

Set for the weekend of August 8-9, 2020, Sandfest will feature all kinds of sandy creations for you to check out.

From realistic looking mermaids, animals, and other characters to more traditional multi-level castles, there’s a little something for everyone.

You can marvel at the work of professional sand sculptors and even get in on the fun yourself by recreating those sandcastles from your childhood.

The event will also feature a classic car show, four stages filled with live entertainment, a cutest dog contest, and more.

Attendees will even have the chance to vote for their favourite sand creations.

So, if you’re looking ahead to must-visit summer events for you and the squad, this is one that you can really sink your toes into.

Let’s dig in!

As far as free events go, this one is pretty sweet.

I mean, a four-stage concert on the beach in the middle of August?

It sounds like a dream, honestly. And the sand creations are truly whimsical and fun as well.

If you wanted to attend both days of the festival, there’s plenty of things to do and places to stay near Sauble Beach so you can make a whole weekend of it.

And if you get hungry, why not visit the area's incredible taco truck? We can't imagine you could possibly be disappointed.

So whether you’re planning super cute date ideas, or want to spend the weekend away with your favourite people, Sauble Beach seems like the place to be this summer.

Go on, seas the day!
