Shawn Mendes Shouts Out Toronto Three Times In His New Song And Music Video

If you know anything about Shawn Mendes, then you'd know he's a proud Canadian. He's from Pickering, which is about a 45-minute drive outside of Toronto. Shawn gets asked questions about Canada all the time, and you may think that gets annoying. However, it's clear that Shawn calls Toronto home. Shawn Mendes shows Toronto love in his new single

A little over a year ago, Shawn put out his most vulnerable song In My Blood. He wanted to get personal with fans, and he definitely did so. He then released his self titled album Shawn Mendes on May 25th, 2018 and had some amazing singles from that album. Ever since that album, fans have been wanting more stuff from him. Well, we finally got it, and it did not disappoint.

His new single If I Can't Have You dropped at midnight last night, and it's already number one on the iTunes chart in Canada! In the music video, Shawn can be seen in black and white (just like his Instagram), and it shows him doing various things like sleeping, playing the piano, and working out. The song itself is about all the things he can't do without thinking about a certain person, but in the video, he references Toronto a lot.

Maybe that means this girl is from Toronto? In the first verse, Shawn sings, "I'm in Toronto and I got this view / But I might as well be in a hotel room, yeah." But that's not the only time he references Toronto. In the second scene, the CN Tower can be seen in the background. There is also a home video of the CN Tower. You can view these below:

If you haven't listened to Shawn's new song, it's definitely worth it. It's a great pop song that has a great beat, and realistically Shawn Mendes can't do anything wrong. Recently, fans said they actually found Shawn's "flaw" after he did a Q&A session and answered a very important question very wrong.

You can view the music video for If I Can't Have You below, and you can see Shawn tour around Canada this summer! This is for sure a song that you'll want to hear live.
