Shay Mitchell Actually Addressed The Negative Comments About Her Partying After Childbirth
Shay Mitchell has had an incredibly busy few days considering she just entered motherhood not even two weeks ago. When she posted an Instagram story of her attending Drake's birthday party with baby daddy Matte Babel, her followers had choice words about her decision to leave her newborn daughter so soon. The internet was immediately flooded with the debate of whether she deserved the night off after nine months of pregnancy and 33 hours of labour. She's kept very quiet about the online arguments, but last night Shay Mitchell's shaming for partying after childbirth was actually addressed.
The new mother proved in her Instagram story that she has done a pretty good job at ignoring the haters. The video shows her scrolling through comments on her photo announcing her daughter's birth. In it, she says, "I haven't really been checking my comments that often, but apparently people are really upset that I left three days after having a kid to go out and party. It wasn't three days, and I left her with Angel." To clear things up, Angel is her dog. And of course, Shay was joking.
While there still is a huge portion of positive congratulatory comments, you can also see the shaming comments about her going to Drake's birthday and choosing to party over caring for her daughter.

Right now, the top comment on her photo is from a user who wrote, "...except when there’s a party to go to, right?! Disgusting...leaving your newborn only days after her birth." And Mitchell actually responded two days ago by writing, "days? Lol honey, just because I posted on that day doesn't mean she was born on that day".
Basically what the Mississauga born lady is arguing is that her daughter wasn't as young as people think she was before she left her for the first time. But at least she doesn't feel shame from the public's finger-wagging over her decision to enjoy her life despite the responsibility of being a new mom.
Hopefully, Mitchell's life in the spotlight as a new mom isn't as overwhelming and it is for other celebrity moms, including Meghan Markle. But even if she did need advice, she has the connection to Markle through her former Pretty Little Liars co-star, Troian Bellisario, who's married to Markle's former TV husband, Patrick J. Adams.
