15,000 Snow Throwers Have Been Recalled In Canada After 36 People Were Seriously Injured
With the winter season upon us, snow removal is something many people across the country have to deal with. There are lots of ways to get rid of snow but you have to be mindful of the products you're using. A snow thrower recall in Canada is in place because of the serious risk of injury after multiple people have gotten hurt.
If you're not a fan of shovelling and have chosen to use a machine to get you through the winter, Health Canada has a warning for you about some of those products.
On December 30, Health Canada recalled Yardworks, Yard Machines and Troy-Bilt two-stage snow throwers because there's a risk of serious injury to people.
If the tires on those products are over-inflated, the plastic rims on the wheels can burst, which could cause cuts and even bone fractures.
Just over 15,000 of these were sold in Canada between July 2004 and March 2006.
As of December 17, 2019, there were 36 reports of injuries related to these recalled machines in Canada.

They come in red, green, gray or black and have two wheels with plastic rims.
The MTD Yard Machines were sold at The Home Depot, Rona and other retailers, while the Troy-Bilt, Yard Machines and Yardworks products were sold at Canadian Tire.
Health Canada is advising people to stop using the product immediately.
If yours is part of the recall, you can call the manufacturer for a free set of replacement wheel rims that are made of steel, not plastic.
You can figure out the model number of your snow thrower if you think it might be included in the recall by looking at its rear frame.
The brand name can also be found on the machine itself, or on the box it came in.
