Looks like Mississauga has wasted no time in making "She The North" a tangible reality. The city will be hosting a gathering for everyone's favourite Canadian tennis star, Bianca Andreescu. The Bianca Andreescu rally in Mississauga will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019, at Celebration Square near Burnhamthorpe Road West and Confederation Parkway.
Officials will present the tennis pro with a key to the city and will also unveil the city’s “Andreescu Way” street sign.
Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie and members of city council are expected to attend Sunday’s event.
“The rally will celebrate the recent accomplishment of Bianca Andreescu, who became the first Canadian to win a grand slam singles title after winning the U.S. Open last weekend,” officials said in a news release issued Thursday.
Bianca Andreescu made history on Saturday when she became the first Canadian in history to secure a U.S. Open victory. The 19-year-old Mississauga-raised tennis sensation beat Serena Williams in the historic match and made all of Canada so proud.
Since then, she's been doing so much promo and giving interviews on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The View and Good Morning America, as well as press conferences.
