The NBA Finals are getting heated. Raptors star Kyle Lowry tore into a fan last night for shoving him as he saved a loose ball from going out of bounds. According to The Guardian, the fan was quickly removed from his courtside seat during Game 3 of the NBA Finals. As is clear from video footage of the incident, the fan pushes Kyle Lowry after the player collided into a row of seats.
Lowry reported the fan to officials and shook his head, preparing to get back to the game. Even after the Raptors' 123-09 victory, Lowry was still clearly shaken by the incident. “There’s no place for that,” Lowry said to reporters. “He had no reason to touch me. He had no reason to reach over two seats and then say some vulgar language to me. There’s no place for people like that in our league and, you know, hopefully he never comes back to an NBA game.”
Unsurprisingly, Raptors fans were quick to side with Lowry. Many fans called for the man to be banned from attending future games:
However, others were quick to call out Drake for displaying similar unsportsmanlike behaviour:
Despite his heated exchange with the fan, it was a pretty good game for Lowry overall. Lowry scored 23 points and made some big shots, helping lead the Raptors to their stunning victory over the Warriors. Toronto now holds a 2-1 lead over Oakland which places them just two wins away from being crowned NBA Champions.
The Raptors will face the Warriors for Game 4 of the NBA Finals this Friday, June 7th, at the Oracle Arena in Oakland California.
