NBA Exec Suggests Giannis May Not Be Able To Handle Toronto’s Cold Weather
Toronto fans aren't buying it.
As Canadians, we're used to being stereotyped. It's a source of pride that our neighbours to the south consider us to be overly polite. However, Canada has also gotten the bad rep for resembling the arctic tundra. In fact, it's even been speculated that while Giannis Antetokounmpo will fit in perfectly with the Toronto Raptors, he may not be able to handle Toronto’s cold weather.
The argument that Toronto is too cold for the player found its way Yahoo Sports.this Friday after a quote from an unnamed NBA executive was shared by
In the post, the source comments on the likelihood of Giannis Antetokounmpo leaving Milwaukee for the Raptors, while referencing the city's weather as a potential problem.
"I don't think he leaves the Bucks," the unnamed exec said, according to Sean Deveney of Heavy.com.
"But if he does, Toronto has to be the front-runner. Staying in Milwaukee, that's No. 1. But if he can stand the cold, Toronto is the perfect situation for him, the next best thing."
While it is being reported there are lots of dominant players, including the Lakers and the Warriors involved in the secret bidding war for the NBA Star, it is still too early to confirm whether Giannis could end up or not.
The Heavy report also dished on what they believe it will take for Antetokounmpo to move to Canada.
"If the Raptors hoped to make a low-key pitch to Antetokounmpo, it's not a very well-kept secret. Toronto will have the cap space to sign Antetokounmpo, who would fit nicely alongside another long-limbed, multi-faceted All-Star forward, Pascal Siakam."
However, Giannis has shown some love for the Raptors before.
Last week, the Milwaukee player revealed that he wished to model himselfafter recently becoming a father.
"Look at Fred VanVleet, he started making all those shots when he had his kid. Maybe that happens to me also. Who knows?" Antetokounmpo revealed.
