The basketball world was rocked this morning after Jeremy Lin announced his departure from the NBA. Lin announced via Instagram this Tuesday that he would be heading to China to play for the Beijing Ducks. Lin was reportedly was offered $3 million to sign with the CBA team, but his salary has not been made public.

“All I can say is THANK YOU to the NBA, my family, inner circle, every fan who came to watch or rooted for me during these 9 years! The journey and privilege to rep Asians at the NBA level has been amazing, and I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for each person whose been with me each step of the way,” Lin gushed in his post.

“Equally excited for this next step with the Beijing Ducks! I always knew my path would go through the CBA solely because I knew how much of an honor it would be to hoop in front of all my Chinese fans. I’m here now and can't wait for the season,” he added.

Lin also shared a video of himself in the team uniform via the Chinese video app Douyin:

Rumours began to circle a few weeks ago about Lin’s possible signing with the Ducks, though nothing was confirmed until today. Despite being an NBA Champion, Lin revealed back in July that no NBA team had made him an offer following his lacklustre season with the Toronto Raptors.

The former Linsanity star spent most of the time during the NBA Finals on the bench, so he is likely hoping that a move to the CBA will give him a fresh start.
