Toronto is on edge today as Kawhi is about to make his decision on which NBA team he'll sign with next season. It's no secret that basically the entire city is hoping that Kawhi stays in Toronto and re-signs with the Raptors and celebrities are no exception – to help convince Kawhi Leonard to re-sign with the Raptors, Drake is reportedly launching a recruiting campaign of his own. This celebrity Raptors superfan is back at it again, and here's hoping his tactics work.
Kawhi is meeting with three different teams today – the Clippers, the Lakers and the Raptors. He has finished his meetings with the two L.A. teams, and his last meeting with the Toronto franchise is later today, revealed ESPN analyst Jordan Schultz in a tweet.
Now, to help Kawhi re-sign with the Raptors, Drake is taking matters into his own hands. According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, the Canadian rapper is starting his very "own recruiting campaign". Honestly though, would you expect anything less from the avid Raptors fan?
“The Raptors haven’t backed off one centimeter and Drake is said to be mounting his own recruiting campaign on top of whatever the freshly minted champions are doing to convince him to stay” Stein wrote in a tweet on Tuesday.
As of now, we're not sure what Drake has in mind to incentivise Kawhi into staying, but knowing how wild his NBA courtside antics can be, we wouldn't expect anything short of extra from him.
However, some people are pretty skeptical that Drake will be able to pull anything that convinces Kawhi to stay in Toronto.
Although it was reported earlier that the Lakers had a lead on signing Kawhi, later on another source said that Kawhi had not yet made a decision on which team he wanted to sign with and that the Lakers were not ahead of the Raptors of the Clippers, Yahoo! Sports reports.
Stay tuned to find out which team Kawhi signs with – here's hoping it's the Raptors!
