Although the new NBA pre-season just started for the Toronto Raptors, it seems that people just can't stop talking about the Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors rivalry that took place last season. However, it looks like part of that rivalry is over, at least in some parts. Kevin Durant, who now plays with the Brooklyn Nets, had a few good words to say about Raptors' Fred VanVleet and even gave him the ultimate shoutout.
VanVleet's been a pretty big subject of discussion on Tuesday after one reporter in Japan called him out on his height. Nonetheless, there's no doubt that VanVleet has got some skill and Durant clearly sees that as well.
The Brooklyn Nets star joined Hot97’s Ebro in the Morning, and according to TSN, he even spoke about the Toronto Raptors at one point. Durant even had some good praise for some of the younger players on the Raptors team.
The TSN article quotes Durant as he discusses one notable player, Fred VanVleet. "He's stamped to me as a dog in the league. He gonna be in the league for a long long time, however long he wants to play."
Durant added even added that VanVleet is someone that younger men should be looking up to, “As an undrafted player, a lot of young guys should be looking at Fred Vanvleet.”
Durant even mentioned VanVleet's college days and how he's known him since then, as well as "Siakam from just playing pickup games around the summer.”
Durant doesn't seem to be the only one who knows the impressive capabilities of our beloved Raptors, people on Twitter also shared their thoughts on his comments.
One Twitter user even stated, "Talking the truth for once good stuff."
While another user stated, "real recognize real."
There's no doubt that people love VanVleet and after watching the Toronto Raptors play against the Houston Rockets last night, people are praising him.
Raptors fans sure seem to be excited to watch VanVleet and the team take on this NBA season. With a championship under their belt, expect anything to happen for this season.
