Snoop Dogg is one of many celebrities attending Game 4 of the NBA Finals tonight in Oakland. He took some time to hop on the air with the very charismatic Stephen A. Smith to discuss Kawhi Leonard and what he looked forward to seeing in tonight's matchup. Snoop Dogg on Kawhi tonight has probably made some Raptors fans optimistic about the player's future, as the whole city has basically joined in on the effort to persuade him to re-sign.
When asked what he thinks about Leonard, knowing he's been compared to greats like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, Snoop gave him nothing but praise. "He's one of a kind, I ain't never seen nobody like him cause he plays both sides of the ball at the highest level," he said.
"He shoots well, he defends well, he got a high IQ of a basketball player, that's what I notice about him, he calms everything down. Snoop Dogg was even bold enough to say, "I think he's the greatest basketball player in basketball right now as we speak."
Smith then asked Snoop what he'd do if he was in Leonard's position as a restricted free agent at the end of this season with the choice to leave Toronto. "Taking myself out of the Snoop Dogg body and out of the Laker fan in me, I would go with what fits best for me and my family and my basketball skills," said Snoop.
Snoop continued, "To me, he's creating a whole new era in Toronto. He'd probably be the greatest Toronto Raptor ever if he stayed there." Which isn't far off, considering Leonard has been breaking Raptors records all season long.
Summing it all up, Snoop added, "If I was him I'd probably stay." Some wise words from Snoop and I'm sure Raptors fans are hoping Leonard takes his advice.
