Leafs Spotted On The TTC To Outdoor Practice With Tim Hortons In Hand (PHOTOS)
This is how real Canadians start their day!
If you ever wanted to see the Toronto Maple Leafs up close without busting the bank, now is your chance. The team is set to ring in its second annual outdoor practice at Nathan Phillips Square on Thursday, January 9, 2020. Players will skate on the public rink before taking part in a three-on-three scrimmage match.
The Leafs made their way to the event in style today by hopping on Toronto’s subway in full hockey gear.
The commute, which was undoubtedly a real treat forwho happened to be travelling on Line 1, was also made by the team during last year’s event.
Fans whistled and howled as the boys made their way into Union Station, looking more than ready to take the ice.
Members of the team also filmed a brief video while on their trip in which they talk about who they think will win today’s three-on-three match up.
“I like our chances, being from the west. I think we got a couple of guys who grew up playing on the frozen ponds,” Leafs centre Adam Brooks said, talking up his side's chances of winning the exhibition match.
The boys were also spotted with Tim Hortons cups in hand, which might be about the most Canadian thing we’ve seen all week.
The morning skate is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. with the three-on-three player tournament expected to follow shortly after at noon and a public skate at 2:30 p.m.
If you’re stuck working and can’t make it out to the event, you’ll still have a chance to catch further Leafs-related festivities on Friday.
A Toronto First Responders Game coached by Maple Leaf’s Alumni is supposed to take place at noon on January 10, where you will be able to catch another glimpse at some Leaf celebrities.
Yet, if you are unable to catch a glimpse of your favourite team, there are also a few other places around Toronto you might be able to spot them.
The Leafs will play the Florida Panthers on Sunday, January 12, at 7:00 p.m.
