It is an emotional day for Toronto Raptors fans as they await their former hero Kawhi Leonard’s return to the city. The Raptors are set to face off against Kawhi’s Clippers for the first time on their home turf this Wednesday, which also marks the NBA star’s first on-court appearance in Toronto since he left for L.A. back in July. So, if you know a die-hard fan, you might want to check in on them, maybe grab a box of tissues because it's about to get emotional.

To celebrate the return of everybody’s favourite “fun guy,” the team released a video tribute, which features a highlight reel of all his best moments in the 6ix.

It’s hard not to get a little teary-eyed as the clips take you back to that whirlwind 2018-2019 season. The snippets also remind you of what a force Kawhi truly was in the 6ix and why his return is such a big deal for fans.

The caption on the video was simple, "Fun Guy in town," but the game and reunion on Wednesday night will hold even more emotion.

As heartwarming as the video may be, it is still just a pre-cursor to the real tribute.

Raptors fans are being asked to be in their seats early tonight to watch a special Kawhi Leonard ring presentation ceremony.

Gates for the game open at 6 p.m. on Wednesday for the 7 p.m. tip-off, but fans are being asked to be in their seats by 6:45 p.m. to make sure they catch the emotional conclusion of the player’s Toronto career.

Of course, the return of The Boardman has also been on his former teammates' minds.

However, Norman Powell revealed during a post-game interview on Monday that he is sick of being asked about the ex-Raptor.

Powell was questioned if he felt Kawhi’s return would bring the team closure, before firmly stating "he’s moved on and we’ve moved on.”

So, it looks like there won’t be any hand-holding on the court tonight, which is probably for the best.

Here’s hoping we can show Kawhi what exactly he has been missing since he left.
