Lebron James Takes Shots At Load Management Topic, Says It 'Doesn't Make Sense'
Kings don't need rest.
When it comes to resting, Lebron James wants no part of it. In an interview on Sunday following the 101-96 Lakers win over the Atlanta Hawks, the basketball star said that load management 'doesn't make sense' to him. This is the latest Lebron James news that proves he's a workhorse and doesn't want to sit out if he's healthy.
In his interview yesterday, the NBA All-Star had the following response when asked about how he manages his long term health: “Why wouldn’t I play if I’m healthy? It doesn’t make any sense to me, personally. I mean, I don’t know how many games I’ve left in my career. I don’t know how many kids that may show up to a game that are there to see me play.”
Over the past few seasons, NBA coaches and players have stressed the need for more days of rest. This is done to help the body recover and to prepare for deep runs in the playoffs.
This "load management" tactic was used with Kawhi Leonard last year as the Toronto Raptors went on to win the NBA Finals.
But by taking games off, many fans around the league have become frustrated when their favorite players are off the court. Fans pay a lot of money to attend games and feel very discouraged when their favorite stars don't show up.
Lebron has constantly stated that he's not a fan of load management. In an interview back in November, Lebron said this when asked about load management: "I'm healthy, I play. I probably got a good 45 years to not play basketball."
As you can see, the NBA player clearly loves playing the game and loves showing up for his fans.
With many of his fans being kids, Lebron feels that he owes it to them to be on the court.
The basketball star is having a remarkable season for the Lakers. He's averaging 26.1 points, 10.7 assists, and 7.3 rebounds.
As he is getting accustomed to playing with teammate Anthony Davis, the team is firing on all cylinders.
As for load management, Lebron wants nothing to do with it. If he's healthy, he'll be out there giving it 110%.
This quality is just one reason why many believe that Lebron is one of the best role models on the planet.
