No matter how you might personally feel about it, LeBron James is widely regarded as the best basketball player on the planet. The former Heat player has three NBA titles to his name and will look to get a fourth with his current team, the Los Angeles Lakers in this upcoming NBA season.
Whether James will dominate the league the way his son Bronny has been dominating his own has yet to be determined. However, the senior James is certainly making an effort to look the part.
The face of Nike Basketball, James and the behemoth American shoe company have given fans their first official look at LeBron's 17th iteration of his signature basketball shoe. Judging by some early reviews, fans are split on whether they approve of the new LeBrons or not.
James took to Instagram to share a photo of one of the first colorways of the LeBron XVII with the caption, "And we're off! Can't wait to lace up."
James is one of Nike's marquee athletes and has had a contract with the swoosh before he even played a single minute of an NBA regular season game straight out of high school.
According to Nike designer Jason Petrie, one of the main innovations on this shoe is the unique exterior Nike is calling "Knitposite." Petrie explains, "It's both structural and soft in the areas it needs to be."
Surely, LeBron had plenty of input throughout the creation of this new design. Multiple aspects of the shoe are in fact similar to his former signature shoe, the LeBron XVI.
Another color of the latest LeBron Nike shoe was released today as well. It has been dubbed the "Lakers" colorway for obvious reasons.
These ought to look interesting in the Laker uniform, that's for sure.
